    Wild Kids' Nature Journey

The final quarter of 2023 was a time of exploration, creativity, and environmental awareness for Wild Kids. From celebrating Children's Day with a focus on nature conservation to engaging in art workshops and embarking on an enlightening trip to the Science Museum, the young members had a fulfilling and educational experience. This article recaps the exciting activities that took place during this period, highlighting the various ways in which Wild Kids connected with nature and expanded their horizons.


Children's Day

Children's Day was a special occasion for Wild Kids, as it became an opportunity for the young members to express their ideas on protecting and conserving nature. The celebration centered around creative art and essays, providing a platform for the children to showcase their unique perspectives on environmental stewardship. Through their artworks and writings, the young minds demonstrated a deep understanding of the importance of preserving the natural world, leaving a lasting impact on both the participants and those who had the chance to witness their thoughtful expressions.

Nature's Little Artist Workshop

Dilai Joseph, an accomplished artist, conducted a workshop titled "Nature's Little Artist" during her exhibition, "Corridors of Time." The workshop aimed to inspire Wild Kids to appreciate nature through art. Through various activities, the children learned to observe and interpret the beauty of the natural world, translating their observations into artistic creations. Dilai Joseph's guidance encouraged the young artists to express their connection with nature, fostering a sense of wonder and appreciation for the environment.

A Day At the Museum

In November, Wild Kids embarked on a fascinating journey to the Science Museum at the University of Colombo. Led by the knowledgeable lecturers and demonstrators from the Science Faculty, the children enjoyed an immersive and informative tour of the museum. The hands-on experience with scientific drawings and plaster casting allowed the kids to explore the wonders of science in a fun and interactive manner. This visit not only enriched their scientific knowledge but also sparked curiosity and a passion for learning among the young explorers.

Kids for Climate Action

The highlight of December was the captivating online presentation titled "Kids for Climate Action." Conducted by Ayeshma Adikari, an assistant lecturer at the Zoology and Environment Sciences Department of the University of Colombo, the presentation delved into various aspects of climate change. The engaging discussion empowered the children with knowledge about environmental issues and emphasized the crucial role they play in addressing climate change. Through this presentation, Wild Kids gained valuable insights into the importance of sustainable practices and became advocates for positive environmental action.
